Shawnigan Lake House
The Lake House is a simple post and beam bar of light and glass on a challenging south facing slope on a waterfront lot. The house is part of a complex - a retreat for a Victoria family. One arrives at an upper level carport, across a bridge to a glass entry box and down a flight of stairs to the main living level running parallel to the beach below. The mass wood construction is wholly exposed, Douglas Fir – harvested from the site is showcased in the design.
